This year we are doing a School Olympics since the Olymics are this year. We get medals on doing service hours, star cards, writing, inquiry and spelling. Also we are trying to get the most medals for our university. We get points for each medal and gold is three, silver two and bronze one. Whoever has the most points gets to do something really cool! Hope we win more medals for U.S! As part of digital learning day, teams Excellence West and East hosted a virtual presentation, through the help of Skype, with one of the UK's 2012 Olympic torch bearers. Jon Tait shared his torch with us virtually and we shared all of the characteristics that make Walker elementary and NxGLC unique. We enjoyed learning about the three reasons for the torch which are, friendship, EXCELLENCE, and respect. We hope to have more opportunities to learn with Mr. Tait and his students! (Maybe he will bring his torch to Wisconsin to light some Wisconsin summer barbecues!) Thank you Mr. Tait for this wonderful experience!!
Team Excelllence will be going to JA Biztown on Wednesday. Please don't forget your lunch and all the great material that has been taught to you in the past 4 weeks. We can't wait to have this great opportunity!
Thursday is our November birthday treat day. If you had or will have a birthday in November please bring in treats to share! Keep the food items coming for Stuff the Pantry! Excellence has been rocking it! Thanks to all of you for helping our student council. In anticipation of testing, we are graciously accepting treat donations. We thought we might create a snack mix. Some of the items we are requesting include dry breakfast cereals, raisins, M&M's without nuts, mini marshmallows, dried fruits, etc. In addition, mints and gum are always appreciated for use during testing times. We greatly appreciate your support!
"Stuff the Community Pantry" Food Drive Walker School is accepting donations of non-perishable food items to be donated to local families in need. The collection period will run through Friday, November 22, 2013. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated! There is an incentive for students as well! The team with the largest contribution will receive a classroom party. Let's work together to make an impact on the community. On Wednesday October 23, 2013, Walker school will be hosting a Food Drive and Silent Art auction from 4-7pm. Food will be donated to a local food pantry. Donations of any size will be greatly appreciated by the greater community. In addition, the Art Club has worked hard to create fabulous pieces that are sure to accent any garden space (see below). If your child does not have a conference scheduled, you are still welcome to stop in! The book fair will run Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:30-7:00.
